Sounds pretty easy doesn’t it?  This timeline can change a thousand times over the course of your wedding planning but don’t get too caught up.  This is simply a rough guideline to keep you on track and avoiding silly yet costly mistakes down the line.  If you are having a dress made, please allow an absolute minimum of 6 months for the dress to be made.  The longer notice you give them the better!  Look for invitations and stationery but do not book anything until your venue and ceremony are booked and paid for.  Some venues have waiting lists up to 4 years.
