11 Jan Before you set a wedding date!

Things can get pretty crazy whilst wedding planning and budgets can quickly get blown out.  To keep on track, here are a few simple things to keep in mind when setting your wedding date.

Public Holidays

You can find a detailed list of all the public holidays via the link below.  All vendors will usually cater on a public holiday however you will pay significant surcharges for these services.

Sporting Events such as rugby finals, Formula One Grand Prix, Indy (some of these will have significant road closures)

School Holidays

You can find a detailed list of all the school holidays via the link below

Other major commitments (work deadlines, 60th Birthday, other weddings or engagement parties)

Council Projects – Fireworks (where bridges are closed)

CEREMONY TIMES

There are a few things to keep in mind for this and most will relate to your photography.  If you are wanting sunset photos, you will need to have your wedding later in the day (usually anytime between 3pm and 5pm).  Obviously, this will depend on the season that are married in as in winter the daylight is far shorter than that of summer.  The other thing to keep in mind is your venue cost.  The reason I mention this is a lot of venues will do a venue hire package of five hours and then charge an hourly or half hourly rate after that five hour period.  So if you are married at 3pm and then start your venue hire for the reception at 5pm, you will either need to vacate the premises at 10pm or pay an hourly or half hourly rate after that.  This rate can be rougly $600 per hour after the initial time has passed.
