10 Oct Baby Shower BB – Chelmer

So part of the joy of my wedding planning venture is sometimes you get a curve ball thrown at you on a job and another enquiry will come in.  So that’s how I landed this job!  I must say planning weddings and baby showers is pretty much my favourite thing in the world to do.  It is such an amazing honour to be invited into peoples lives at these precious times!

This particular baby shower was held at a private residence in Chelmer on the river front.  It was an amazing day and I was privileged to meet some amazing ladies at this particular party.  It was quite a mix in ages but it was the perfect blend of personalities!

For this baby shower, the guide I was given was teal, grey, chevron and giraffes.  I had a lot of challenges finding teal table cloths so I ended up purchasing one table cloth (as that’s all that was available) and cutting it into 3.  It was a very flimsy task and I would not recommend it unless you are extremely patient!  I purchased some printable flags online through etsy and laminated them so the mother-to-be could take them home to hang in the nursery after.   I find a lot of amazing items on etsy for these kind of functions.  You can purchase entire baby shower packs including games and decorations for approximately US$25.  It is a very cost effective way to do these events without leaving the house.  You simply pay online and then print them out at home.  There is a lot of cutting out involved so if you are time poor, you may be best off without this option.

To make this a little more special, I did a few little extras for this shower.  We made miniature bow ties out of napkins by folding them and using a hot glue gun to hold super cute ribbon around them.  We also used five different designs to decorate the water bottles in little men theme.  The tables were decorated with milk jars filled with baby’s breath and we had a blue themed lolly buffet.  Balloons were made by purchasing a helium tank from Big W and attaching them to the a decorated balloon holder from the local two dollar shop.

Other vendors that assisted on the day were Spoon In The City (Festival Towers, 108 Albert Street) who made the sandwich platters , and The Cheesecake Shop Wynnum made cupcakes.  A huge apology to a young lady who also made cupcakes who is starting up her own business doing this.  I was informed she was making a cake so I went ahead and order cupcakes and cake pops to go along side the lolly bar.  Unfortunately I was misinformed and we then had so many cupcakes and no big baby cake!!  So  my apologies go to Courtney’s Cakery.  She has self taught herself and her cupcakes were absolutely delicious!!

This baby shower was the top of the line, all inclusive package, including chair and table hire, linen hire, catering and dessert bar.  Also games were provided but not prizes.  I don’t like to supply prizes as it really depends on your friend circles as to who likes what and I really dislike the idea of waste if I get something they don’t like.  This entire package came in at just under a thousand dollars to give you a rough idea of the budget on this one.

So why not take the stress out of your baby shower and hire a planner!!  Email me for a quote.  It might be cheaper than you think!
